Welcome to Aurora
Find an illuminated future in “The City of Lights”
This radiant, outer-Chicago suburb is the second-most populous city in the state and rests on four separate districts: DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will counties. The mighty Fox River meanders through the town of Aurora, Illinois, providing beautiful scenery, ample activity, and a true river-country experience.
Named after the goddess of the dawn and lovingly called by the nickname “The City of Lights,” Aurora was the first town in the country to use electric lights for publicly illuminating the city streets. A modest village turned rapidly growing city, Aurora has the luxury of a rich history coupled with a glowing modern future.
The architecture in Aurora is phenomenal, innovative, and diverse. The city is home to several structures designed by world-renowned architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Bruce Goff, and many others. One of the few locations with a unique collection of historic Sears catalog homes, Aurora also offers Italianate and Victorian-style homes, as well as newer single-family residences and apartments.
